In person and telehealth
My name is Alyssa Bishop, and I am a Board Certified Music Therapist. I completed my bachelor’s degree in music therapy at Sam Houston State University, and completed the required internship in 2020. Not wanting to limit the clients I could see and individuals I could help, I started my private practice Melodies That Matter Music Therapy soon after. Since then I have contracted in public school, private school for special needs, adult dayhab facilities, government programs (CLASS), and I have seen individuals in the comfort of their own homes.
My approach to therapy is highly individualized, using the aspects of music or the music itself to accomplish specific therapeutic goals for each client. Music is a non-invasive, non-intimidating medium that can be used for a wide variety of objectives using evidence based techniques. I believe in an eclectic approach to music therapy, as every client’s needs, strengths, and goals are different.
My in-person hours of availability are highly dependent on the office hours of other professionals at Counseling Creations, due to the nature of music therapy and possible sound disturbances. However, I will likely be available in person on Fridays from noon to 5PM. I am available via telehealth Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
